EMMANUEL YOUTH
Youth of Emmanuel meet in fellowship with youth at Trinity UCC on scheduled Sundays and for events. They are busy with Bible study, service projects such as The Souper Bowl of Caring, and other activities during the year.
In summers, youth of Emmanuel travel with youth from St. Jacob's UCC (Stone Church) and Trinity UCC to participate in a group mission trip.
In July 2012 they will participate in the REACH Work Camp in Eleanor, West Virginia.
Annual fundraising for the summer mission trip includes: Lock-In, Bowl-A-Thon, Maple Donut Fastnachts, Sub Sales, Community Nights at Hoss's Family Restaurant, BonTon Community Day, Tastefully Simple, Yard Flags, a Yard Sale, and a Car Wash, as well as recycling printer cartridges and used cell phones with Planet Green. Hartman Center is the outdoor facility for the Outdoor Ministry of Penn Central Conference. Located near Penn State, it offers things campers love: a swimming pool, creeks to wade in, a small mountain to climb, a pond to fish in, great food, and much more. Camps are offered for all ages, from grandparents with grandchildren to teens and adults. Most camps are weeklong and range from canoeing to soccer, CSI, and drama. Brochures for summer camps are available in the church office. Register early! Go to www.hartmancenter.com
Emmanuel has been sending campers to the Hartman Center for many years. Tracey Auchey, Megan Alcott, Tricia Giesey, Allison Frederick, and Steven Garrett have enjoyed their experiences at the Hartman Center. Emily and Erin Groft returned year after year—Emily for 7 years and Erin for 4 years. Erin says, “It’s fun and you get to meet new people.”
