Donald C. Horneff, director of music, is a versatile  musician on organ, piano, harpsichord and electronic keyboard instruments who enjoys playing many styles of  music.

Don grew up in Cherry Hill, NJ where his family promoted music. After receiving a B.S. degree in music education at Elizabethtown College, Don taught instrumental music in Carroll County Public Schools (MD) and  performed for 17 years with “Music by Just Us” in a variety of musical settings throughout the mid-Atlantic region. He was also a recording artist for PianoDisc.  In 1981 he began operating a piano tuning and repair service which he continues to maintain in MD and PA.

Since 1991, Don has been a member of the Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College) music faculty teaching piano lab, harpsichord, electronic music (MIDI), and brass pedagogy. Don performs frequently with Chamber Music on the Hill in residence at McDaniel College, and regularly joins David Kreider in selections for two pianos. He also plays four-hand piano and piano-organ duets with Peggy Brengle

Ms. Jamie Brown, choir director, found joy in most aspects of music coursework at York College—music theory, pedagogy, music history, instrumental and  choral conducting, and music analysis—but conducting became her passion!

Building a career in the classroom for the past  10 years, Jamie has experienced challenge and success. Currently a high school instrumental and vocal music teacher who has worked with different ages and levels of students—elementary, middle and high school—she is often reminded of what it takes to "grow a musician". She values her role in facilitating growth and she gives ownership in the final performance.  Jamie likes the feeling of producing music from notes on paper—bringing voices together in harmony to make full sounds.

In March 2012, Ms. Brown will be the guest conductor of the Hanover Symphony Orchestra for "A Night at the Carnival".
